This online training covers many of the topics that participants need to know prior to taking the Basic Counselor Skills Training (BCST). This training includes: what is HIV test counseling?, why is it important?, HIV transmission and prevention, using medications to prevent HIV transmission, PrEP: an important prevention option, informed consent, introduction to risk assessment sessions, talking with clients about sexual harm reduction, HIV, drugs, and injection drug use, the stages of change and risk reduction steps, preparation for test results, disclosing negative test results and understanding hepatitis C and integrated testing for HIV and HCV. Includes a comprehension quiz at the end which a score of 80% or higher is required in order to attend the BCST.
