This course will provide an overview of issues and methods regarding the epidemiology of aging with a focus on common chronic diseases in older populations.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify major risk factors for major chronic diseases in older populations;
- Understand theories of biological and social processes that underlie development of chronic diseases in aging populations and apply them to epidemiologic research; and
- Apply epidemiologic and statistical methods to analysis of problems specific to aging populations, especially in a longitudinal context.
