This course will provide an overview of issues and methods regarding the epidemiology of aging with a focus on common chronic diseases in older populations.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify major risk factors for major chronic diseases in older populations;
  2. Understand theories of biological and social processes that underlie development of chronic diseases in aging populations and apply them to epidemiologic research; and
  3. Apply epidemiologic and statistical methods to analysis of problems specific to aging populations, especially in a longitudinal context.
