  • Lecture: Historical Context and Theories of Social Determinants

    Overview of the class: Syllabus, grading, class participation, class structure, etc.  Review development of social epidemiology as a field, distinct from traditional epidemiology. Class will discuss large social epidemiological studies and overarching concepts. A conceptual framework for social determinants.  Beyond Life-Course Models and Psycho-Social interactions (i.e. Bronfenbrenner, Glass, Berkman). Population Perspective, multilevel models, development and life course perspective, social determinants of behaviors.
