Everyone at UCSF teaches: whether we instruct formal classes or workshops, lead meetings or conference presentations, or have conversations with colleagues, learners, or patients.
This session provides an introduction to antiracist & feminist teaching methods, informed primarily by Black feminist thought and intersectional feminist frameworks. The second half of the session will be an interactive workshop: bring your teaching materials (class slides, outlines, presentations, lesson plans, etc.) and we'll work collaboratively to apply these frameworks to your classes, presentations or workshops.
At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
Define the aims of antiracist & intersectional feminist pedagogies
Describe 4 ways to incorporate these methods into your teaching
Design and critique lesson plans using an antiracist praxis
Reflect on the challenges to implementing change and develop a plan for self-reflection
