I agree with this statement. I believe that it is always necessary to justify the importance of science and technology as an engine of development and catalysts for social change. The generation, accumulation and management of knowledge have an increasingly important role in the growth and development of countries, having a strategic importance in the fight against inequality. In this framework, the figure of the researcher as a communicator acquires special relevance. Not only communicating their work but also rendering the corresponding accounts to society. The accountability process should show that the common good is first over documents and grants. One aspect that can help is collaboration with academics who have experience in ethics and public policy (Resnik and Elliot 2016). By creating multidisciplinary teams, we can help improve the quality of our research without losing the focus of the scientist's social responsibility. Another aspect is to improve the training of journalists to criticize scientific results and improve the ability to show these results knowing that they can impact on the generation of public policies (Gollust et al., 2009). Another important player may be the role of civil society and the scientific community. Citizen science, the public participation of non-scientists in scientific research, has become an important tool for monitoring and evaluating local and global climate change. It has been demonstrated that citizen science projects allow the collection of data on a large scale, increase scientific knowledge and monitor environmental quality, playing a great educational role (https://ucsf.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://doi.org/10.1016/j.gloenvcha.2014.10. 006). Therefore, it is important that scientists, the press media and civil society advocate with the objective of impacting in more and better policies based on science.
