Your proposed intervention for #2 sounds like it could be very effective at helping indigenous women feel more confident accessing the healthcare system during childbearing. In addition to having obstetric care navigators who speak the same language as indigenous patients, it would be interesting to examine the importance of shared culture, mores, and beliefs surrounding childbirth to see if having that additional overlap further encouraged women to deliver within healthcare facilities. I admittedly don't know anything about indigenous Guatemalan culture, so it may be that this cultural overlap is expected in patient care navigators who speak indigenous languages, but if not it could add an additional layer of richness to the study.
