I love the acknowledgement of the complexity in breastfeeding that is reflected here. While I think the BAP is an interesting survey to administer especially for multiparous women, it does little to investigate historical predictors of poor breastfeeding initiation- additionally, it does not reflect who is likely to continue breastfeeding which is truly the behavior change that is desirable. Lastly, I appreciated the note that we have to be conscientious about overly criticizing those for not breastfeeding especially without further understanding of why people are reluctant to initiate this behavior.
