Hunter, I enjoyed learning about your research into pap testing. The next step from positive pap test to colposcopy is key in the chain of preventing cervical cancer. As you point out, undergoing colposcopy is a more involved procedure and applies a new set of logistical challenges that can limit access. Too frequently we fail to consider the ways that a traditional "business hours" schedule can discriminate against those with limited job flexibility and/or significant childcare responsibilities. Expanding procedural availability to 6 or 7 days per week would be a key step to addressing this need. Finding staff availability and funding is no doubt the biggest hurdle. Establishing such a clinic with the help grant funding or charitable giving toward women's health initiatives might be a way to expand hours. If these additional procedural slots are continuously filled, it is a good argument that they serve a key need and warrant permanent funding.
