I think the idea of providing multi-disciplinary care in the dialysis unit is a really interesting idea. I know that the duration of outpatient dialysis has been a challenge for some of my patients, and it seems like an excellent opportunity to provide additional services to a chronically ill population (and one where there is a high prevalence of disparities). Implementing this type of service would probably also give the opportunity for these patients to establish care with providers from many different disciplines who have expertise taking care of patients with CKD and complexities that are influenced by many different social determinants.
