I will present these slides on Friday. I decided to present this because I am not really sure how to draw the DAG. We have measured and are going to assess IL-6 at ART initiation. However, this predictor may be associated with the outcome via two mechanisms: in the first, as a predictor of an intermediate variable, IRIS, which causes mortality, in the second, as a marker of pre-ART inflammation, which may also cause mortality. A key question is whether there might be better ways to represent the DAG for this study.
