The specific focus of your second generation work of obtaining perspectives from women themselves about etiologies of these disparities is important, and could allow for novel insights and ultimate interventions. A challenging aspect of this work, as we have discussed in class, is the life course and multigenerational etiologies of risk of preterm birth. This is not to discourage more proximal, time limited interventions, but only to acknowledge the importance of being aware of the context.
And I agree that the use of community resources and encouraging social communication to facilitate health education is particularly in the complex social area of reproductive health - I am very excited to hear about the intervention you mention around community health educators, and think it would be great to leverage that across a range of issues.
