Your idea to conduct a study of African Americans and CRC with regard to their neighborhood context, whether they live in ethnic enclaves, should be do-able, with the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS). There are also a handful of social capital variables in the CHIS. I hope you can pursue this idea!
