Hi DCR Scholars -

I know you are all thinking hard about sample size estimation this week, but wanted to let you know that the Assignment and materials for next week are now up on the Syllabus.  Some details about the plan:

- The primary lecture content is a recorded lecture from Warren Browner, from last year.  The lecture recording quality is not as high, but it's still a great lecture.  Start at minute 4 after a little tech issue got resolved.

- The in-person 9am-10am session will be a conversation with Tom Newman.  This continues our on-going experiment with a "flipped classroom".  We had a lot more discussion this week with Steve Cummings, but still heard some feedback about a) Not spending too much time on career advice issues, and b) Not spending too much time getting into specifics of studies with individual students.  We'll try to respond to both of those comments and modify things with Tom on Tuesday.  Your ongoing honest feedback about this experiment has been extremely useful - keep it coming.  I've encouraged our small group leaders to spend a short moment at the beginning of small group sessions to collect feedback.

- Assignment 4 is one of my favorites, because you get to think about a SECOND study.  Let your imagination run free about some dream project, and do an outline for it!  Many DCR students end up choosing to pursue this second study instead of their original study...

See you on Tuesday.
