Thanks Kafi.  The key distinction with Weaver vs Gruenewald is about the timing of exposure: is there a critical developmental period in early life?  This is a very important question for developing interventions and thinking about the special and unique importance of early developmental periods has been influential in recently popular (though still wildly underfunded) approaches to addressing health inequalities.  I study healthy aging in particular, so I find the idea that plasticity persists into adulthood and late life very appealing but some of the most convincing social interventions are based on infancy or early childhood settings.
