ENHANCING CAUSAL INFERENCE ASSIGNMENT (1/2 - 1 page)
(Note that you will incorporate material for this assignment into the Final Protocol that you will submit by Friday in your fourth week. Incorporate this into a combined protocol document that includes the material you have developed and refined for other assignments.)
First complete the assigned readings and watch the video lecture for this topic.
Complete either 1 or 2 (depending on your study design)
1. If you are working on an observational study:
- List up to ten variables that may be confounders in your study.
- Develop at least two specific plans for coping with these confounders.
- Discuss which plan is best, and comment on the process of drawing causal inference from your study.
2. If you are working on a clinical trial, make a decision about whether or not to include each of the following strategies, specify how it will be done, and justify your decision:
- Randomization
- Blinding
- Run-in design
- Stratified blocked randomization
If you are planning to do a randomized blinded trial, describe how you will carry out a tamper-proof randomization, and how you will maximize the success of the efforts at blinding.
