Homework Instructions

Each weekly module contains a separate “Assignment Forum”. This is where students should post their weekly assignment, feedback to peers, and responses to peer feedback. 

How to Post Assignments

• Click Add a new discussion topic
• Enter a few words describing your work in the Subject box. Type your assignment for each week in the Message box.

• If applicable, upload a Word.doc or attachment by clicking on the "Advanced" link.
• Click Post to Forum

READ and REPLY to other participants' work

• Click the SUBJECT of the post (not the person's name)
• Click the Reply link at the bottom right of the Message Box
• Type your feedback and click Post to Forum

Weekly Homework

Part 1: Please upload your Homework to the online class forum by the Tuesday at 5pm PST of the corresponding week.

Part 2: Provide input about one case study by Thursday at 5pm PST of corresponding week.

Each week, you will select one of the case studies to comment on in the online forum for your group. In addition, one of your small group colleagues will be assigned to lead the week’s case study discussion and will start the week’s online discussion (see below if you are the assigned leader for this week). For your online post, please respond to the discussion leader’s post, adding specific examples from the case study that support their comments on the use of methodology/theory in the paper and/or add your thoughts about areas of confusion or need for more clarification. You can also comment on the use of this method/theory in your own work as it relates to the case study reading. 

Small group case study discussion leader

In addition to the weekly homework, you will also be assigned to be the primary reviewer of a case study for one of the weeks during the course.  

If you are the week’s assigned small group case study discussion leader, your job is to provide commentary on the assignment forum for all of the case studies for that week. 

This commentary should discuss:

1. how the authors applied theory to their work,
2. positive aspects of the theoretical or other methodological approach, and
3. your ideas for areas for improvement or additional clarification. 

This is due by Tuesday of your assigned week by 5pm PST (the same time as Part 1 of the HW is also due). Finally, on Friday of the assigned week by 5pm PST, review the forum again, reading peer comments on articles and expanding upon their ideas as well as adding your own thoughts. The small group leaders will also provide additional input as needed for the case studies by Friday to help facilitate the online discussion.

NOTE: There are no students leading the case study discussions in week 1, but rather Dr. Handley will do the week 1 case study forum discussions.
