Course Description
Students review and critically analyze biomedical and behavioral approaches to HIV prevention and treatment. Trainees prepare an academic presentation related to their focus on HIV prevention or treatment, thus initiating their written critical analysis of research in their focus area.

Course Objectives
1. Identify evidence-based approaches for HIV prevention
2. Identify evidence-based approaches for HIV treatment and care
3. Examine the strength of evidence for HIV prevention and treatment approaches and describe gaps in research on these topics
4. Identify appropriate measures to examine the efficacy and effectiveness of interventions for HIV
5. Incorporate evidence-based considerations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion into HIV interventions that address healthcare disparities and how they relate to HIV.

Course Prerequisites and Restrictions
SON HIV T32 Fellow or permission from the instructors.

Course Requirements and Grading
• Seminar attendance and active involvement in discussions (50%)
• Completion of course readings
• Presentation on a Specific Aims for an intervention to increase PrEP cascade or the HIV Care Cascade for your population of interest (50%)
