    • Methods for recording online videos

    • zoom logo

The easiest way to pre-record lecture videos is by using Zoom.

    • NOTE: The “enhance my appearance” feature and the virtual background (and an additional monitor) all take more processing power of your laptop. To run all three, make sure nothing else is running in the background and you have good network bandwidth. If you don’t, the video may look “soft” or out of focus or laggy. Test a short intro before doing a full lecture. If it isn’t clear, try not using one of the above features and test again.

Also, even lighting will greatly help the video. If it is jumpy or blotchy, add more light to the room or towards your face. Bouncing light off the wall next to you or the ceiling should help without blinding you.

    • Camtasia by TechSmith is also a good option if you would like to edit and annotate your lecture content. Camtasia is built for anyone who needs to make any kind of instructional video. If you want to learn about creating videos, try out the TechSmith Academy. It’s a free resource designed to level-up new video creators!
