    After this module, trainees should be able to:

    1. Understand the difference between a research interest and research question

    2. Understand characteristics of a good research question

    3. Understand how to develop research questions using the PICO framework described in this lecture

      This chapter of the DCR textbook provides an overview of how to develop a research question and study plan, and is heavily referenced in the lecture. 

      A UCSF Library guide to PICO: Population/Problem/Patient, Intervention/Exposure, Comparison group, Outcome.  PICO is introduced in the lecture and this guide will help you get practice performing your own PICO to develop a research question.

      Choose one of the research topics you included in your module 1 activity (or a new topic if you prefer).  Do a brief literature review on the topic and summarize your findings in 1-2 paragraphs, including 5-10 relevant references.  What is already known about the topic? What questions remain unanswered? Propose two to three research questions, using FINER and PICO tools described in the lecture.
