This introductory course immerses students in the latest technological advancements and emerging trends, focusing on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) within the pharmaceutical industry. Through literature reviews, guest lectures and interactive discussions with industry leaders, students will acquire practical insights into the application of AI across drug discovery, pharmaceutical development, and beyond. In addition, the course places an emphasis on providing students with a broad overview of topics relevant to prospective Capstone Projects.
Moreover, the course will teach essential skills necessary for undertaking a successful Capstone Project, from honing scientific writing and presentation skills to identifying research problems and developing a Capstone project proposal. Throughout the course, students will work on assignments that will guide them in exploring diverse subject areas, defining project scopes, and selecting appropriate computational methodologies for various computational research problems.
