
Course Description: This elective offers students an early introduction to surgical dental specialties, with particular emphasis on oral and maxillofacial surgery. Through a series of lectures, workshops, and hands-on laboratory sessions, students will practice fundamental surgical skills including suturing, anatomy review, radiology interpretation, local anesthesia, and operative techniques. Resident- and faculty-led discussions will provide mentorship, career guidance, and insight into the professional pathways within surgical dentistry. The course blends practical skill-building with mentorship and reflection, helping students connect classroom learning with clinical practice while exploring future opportunities in the specialty.
