This course is a new elective in the School of Pharmacy, “Seminars in Emerging Science and Practice of Therapeutics, Interdisciplinary Studies 172 (IDS 172). The course can be taken for 1.0 units as described in the syllabus. The goal is to expose professional students to a diversity of scientific perspectives relevant to the thematic topic for each quarter. To help students put together an integrated picture of the many aspects of healthcare sciences, speakers are drawn from scientists from UCSF or industry who lead cutting edge research relevant to the disease topic. This course will engage students to identify strengths and weaknesses of health care, where further research is needed and to think critically about translational applications of this research.
