Pharmacy students will be introduced to the Spanish language and its culture. The Latino population is becoming widespread throughout the United States. As pharmacists it is important that we serve this community the best we can, and with appropriate communication advising patients about medicines, including how to take them, what reactions may occur and answering patients’ questions in Spanish.
Lectures and activities for this elective will include Spanish grammar, basic terminology such as the days of the week; tell time, the metric system, anatomical/medical terms, major disease states, pharmacy oriented vocabulary and Latino cultural oriented subjects.
