Dr. Kohn was very specific about what the definition of a data dictionary is. I haven't been able to find the specific list of elements that he presented in class lecture either in the book or in the class slides.

anyone able to tell me where to go to get his definition or summarize it for me?

thank you

Hi Laura,

Here's a list of the elements of a data dictionary:

Data Dictionary = Codebook = Metadata

A data dictionary should include the following columns (although some variations are acceptable)
Field Name
Label
Type
Description/Notes
Validation
Response Options/Lookup List

I've also attached an example of a REDCap Codebook.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

I posted separately without realizing this thread started.

So where in REDCap can we find the link to export Codebook?

Thank you for your reply!

I also am interested in learning how to directly export the Data dictionary from Access? Dr. Kohn mentioned this capability in lecture last week. Any guidance is appreciated!
