general comment about problem set 5

I have read the assigned reading several times and several of us are still not appreciating what concepts are being asked by each of the questions and haven't been able to make any progress on it.

would it be possible to direct us a little in terms of key concepts that you are teaching for each question?

thank you

Hi Laura,

Thank you for your forum post. I am unsure exactly what would be helpful for you, but here's a genuine try:

Question 1: probability, odds, conversions, thresholds, calibration, discrimination

Question 2: define C and B, series of net benefit calculations, threshold calculation

Question 3: I would refer to Dr. Kohn's lecture - he outlines how to interpret calibration plots and how they relate to ROC curves. In particular, pay attention to where least/most abnormal are.

Question 4: it is helpful to know and understand the definition of calibration, for part (c) be very specific about how you got predicted risk and observed proportion

I think in general it may be more useful to target specific questions for the forum, as it will assist us in being more helpful in answering questions.

Best,
Kirk
