Thanks for this reply Ignacio. That model is quite comprehensive - I love it! One caveat I would make is being careful not to conflate the process of care (e.g. preventative health visit) with the outcomes themselves (in this model they are included on the same column). I very much appreciate the inclusion of a patient-reported outcome of oral health-related quality of life - so often those are underappreciated. I also like the recognition of the need for the health care system to be responsive to the needs of individuals, rather than always expecting the individual to be able to work within a rigid system.
For the second question, I would challenge you to consider how and why behavioral differences exist - the lecture tomorrow should help with that - the mechanisms Dr. Gomez will talk about are very relevant to this area. Similarly, for race/ethnicity, I would encourage you to think about what are the intermediary factors - stress? racism? differences in health care experiences? How much do we know and what research could be done to expand our knowledge of this?
