For question 3b in HW 7, what do you mean by fill in the 2x2 table? Do you mean fill in the two 2x2 tables for both Diuretic and No Diuretic (ie. A1-D1 and A0-D0 in table below)?

Thanks,

Canice

Yes, you are correct.  It should say “two 2x2 tables”, plural. Please fill in for A1-D1, and A0-D0, as well as N1, N0, M1, and M0, and the problem also asks for the two OR’s. Thanks for catching that.

Does the problem ask for ORDE in Diuretic/ No diuretic strata rather then OR for diseased/not diseased? I'm just confused what ORD+ and ORD- mean? D+/D- are supposed to refer to the disease state (syncope). But it seems like in the table they refer to diuretic treatment. Am I correct? Or am I reading that wrong?

Hi Kate, it is unfortunate notation that came from a different source worksheet provided by Dr. Mayeda. To clarify, in this particular case, the ORD+and ORD- are indications of the OR's within the two Diuretic positive and negative groups, respectively... not the typical disease yes/no. I made a note to update. Sorry for confusion.

Thank you for clarifying! I thought as well, but wanted to check with you just in case.
