Hi All,

Welcome to Biostat 212!  I’m looking forward to a great quarter together.

I wanted to bring your attention to a few items:

  • A course intro video and slides are now posted to the course CLE. Please watch the video. A course schedule has also been posted to the CLE.
  • The course utilizes a flipped classroom model.  I will post a pre-recorded lecture every week, approximately 1 week before the live group discussion. Students are expected to watch these lectures on their own time prior to coming to the live group discussions to be held on Tuesdays at 1:15PM. The live group discussions will be held via Zoom and are a forum to ask questions about the lecture.  Lecture 1 and the accompanying Stata demo are available now – please watch before the July 20th live group discussion.
  • Labs will follow the live group discussion. These will also be offered via Zoom. We are considering offering an in-person option for the lab. To gauge interest, you will have to complete a 1 question “quiz” noting your preference (virtual, in-person, or both) for the labs. This will need to be completed before you can access the course introduction video. Week 1 lab (July 20th, 2:30-4PM PST) will only be offered via Zoom. Please have Stata installed prior to lab 1.
  • Please post any material-related questions to the CLE forum. You can email me directly with any other questions (crystal.langlais@ucsf.edu).

Looking forward to meeting you all (virtually) on the 20th.

Hi All,

Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer the in-person option for the lab at this time. As such, I have removed the preference "quiz" from the CLE.

Based on feedback from last year, I think we can still have a very engaging lab session, virtually. I apologize to those of you who were hoping to attend lab in-person.
