So many authors from Europe and the U.S. are quick to pat themselves on the back for the advances in industrialization and "modernization" of their respective regions, which they then argue spread to poorer regions to trigger the changes in demography, but these authors unabashedly overlook their countries' roles in perpetuating underdevelopment in those countries.
