Is lab attendance mandatory?

If we are able to complete assignment 1 from home/office, is it OK to skip lab? Is lab more like office hours/TAs available to trouble shoot?

Hi Carolyn,

Lab for this week will include a review of this past Tuesday's lecture (by the TAs) and an interactive session on data cleaning using Stata.  After this week, during lab, the TAs will go over the answers to the assignment due that week, and review that week's lecture material.  Later in the quarter, we'll also be reviewing journal articles.   So, it's more structured than open office hours, and is meant to reinforce and practice the concepts and ideas from lecture.  Having said that, we don't keep records of attendance.  I'm sure Judy will weigh in with her perspective as well.

Agreed.  Lab is for your benefit, and like lecture, attendance is not mandatory but recommended.  Judy
