Dear class,
Dr. Rutherford and I are looking forward to a great Fall quarter together. If you haven't already done so, please log into the CLE site and review the syllabus and the week 1 readings. We encourage you to also drop a note in the forum introducing yourself and providing one reason you're interested in learning epidemiological methods used in infectious disease epidemiology. There is a thread titled, "greetings" that you can post to.
Scientific discussion allows for rich learning. Each week's topic is illuminated through a series of required readings. Give yourself ample time to review and reflect on the readings and come prepared with notes on discussion points or questions.
For Monday, the first hour lecture will review key concepts of infectious disease epidemiology with the second hour focused on discussing the journal articles.
I need a volunteer to sign up to lead the week 1 readings. Please reply to this thread if you're willing. We will circulate a sign up sheet for subsequent weeks on Monday.
See you on Monday,
Meghan
