Final question 6a - template for ROC curve missing?

Final question 6a - template for ROC curve missing?

Dear Dr. Newman,

Question 6a on the final states: "Using the data provided in Table 6 above, plot the ROC curve for the chemotherapy toxicity risk score and the ROC curve for physician-rated KPS. Plot both curves on the same ROC template below." I don't see a ROC template on the question sheet. Is there meant to be one?

Thank you very much,

Giorgis

Sorry about that!  It got deleted accidentally in the final iteration (because it had Michael's ROC curve plotted on it).

I have posted a new version of the exam (11/8/15) that has a grid on which you can draw an ROC curve.  I also re-worded 4e to try to clarify the ambiguity Christine pointed out.

Best wishes,

Tom

New version of final

by Thomas Newman -

Sorry, the previous post should say the new version is 11/28/15, not 11/8/15.  Besides the grid, the only other changes are that I captured clarifications from previous forum posts and put them in with the questions and corrected a typo in 6e ("increased" changed to "increase").

I recognize the  inconvenience of making changes now. I've just uploaded a version with changes tracked, so it will be easy to find them and look at them to make sure they don't change your understanding of any questions.

Good night!

Tom

Thank you so much Dr. Newman for the edits. I made the ROC curves using an excel scatter plot yesterday, the only difference to the template is that on my version there are no grid squares in the background (which is just plain white). Is this acceptable or would you rather everyone use the template?

The grid lines are not required; but you (and everyone) should show the work needed to draw the ROC curves,  i.e., the ordered pairs (values of X and Y you are plotting).
