DCR Scholars -
I got several requests for additional guidance on case-control studies yesterday. While case-control studies are tremendously useful in some settings, selecting controls for a case-control study is one of the most challenging tasks that epidemiologists face.
I've added 2 really good articles to the syllabus website on case-control studies under "Optional reading" that you should look at if you are planning a case-control study.
Also, note that for scholars signed up in our ATCR or MAS programs, the Epidemiology Methods course in the Fall spends a couple of weeks entirely dedicated to case-control studies. Those of you not in these programs who are interested can also take this course if you want (or others in the TICR program)...
