Question about HW 8 #8c (planned c/s for breech)

One of the section leaders received this question:

Q: I have a question regarding the assignment for tomorrow. This is for the breech delivery question. I just want to make sure I am not being tripped up by the question stem-- why is PLANNING (8c) in bold, twice? I am confused in the sense that all patients, who were breech, were randomized to c-section or vaginal delivery, and some from each group crossed over (for the vaginal to c-section, presumably due to complicated delivery course) and c-section to vaginal (only 10% of those randomized to c-section)... Just wanted to make sure I'm not misunderstanding the question/missing something.

Any input really appreciated.

Thanks!

TN: Planning is indeed in bold for a reason.   The idea is to distinguish the effect of planning to do a c/s vs actually doing one.  I'll have another example in lecture tomorrow. But you could picture it as distinguishing between the effect of a smoking cessation intervention vs the effect of actually quitting smoking.  They might be quite different.
