My Research proposal is about influences of race, ethnicity, and admixture in Dementia. This work may help to differences how race, ethnicity, and admixture could influence in different ways in the development of dementia and how different socioeconomic driven by race or ethnicity could influence this outcome. This work could help to clarify some unsolved questions in the field making possible to move into third and fourth generation research where we may target those influences that are susceptible to be modified like eliminate disparities around race and ethnicity.
In Latin America some families think that Cognitive impairment or memory loss is a normal process of aging, this makes that they usually go for a doctor very late in the disease when complications of the disease start, complications that could be prevented with an earlier diagnosis. So an awareness campaign in regular places like barbershops, local market etc where we show that this not a normal process of aging could help to do an earlier diagnosis. Similar to the barbershop intervention we may use technology base cognitive testing while you are waiting for a hair cut.
