Hello again,

Many of you have inquired about using a dataset that is not one of the 4 on the CLE website. Although this is generally allowed, you will have to meet with one of the course instructors first to obtain permission.

If you do want to use an alternative dataset, we encourage you to set up a meeting with Dr. Allen, Dr. Kornak, or Dr. McCulloch to make sure that the dataset is appropriate for this course.

Please be reminded that the first component of the final project is due Monday, August 14. As usual, please let us know if you have any questions.

Hi All,

I just want to add to what John and Zara state that you should consider that it will likely take more effort to work through your own data. The datasets we provide have been tested by us in Modeler and we can provide support for any problems that may occur. If you work on your own dataset, then although we will try and help with any problems, we are limited in what we can do to help.

I will also be available after Monday's lecture to discuss with anyone that wants to use their own data. If you want to use your own data, then please do the first project assignment based on the data you want to use, and then we can discuss feasibility after Monday's class.
