Hi everyone,

Here is an updated link to Rothman's Episheet spreadsheet to use for this week's exercise on meta-analysis:

Thanks to Kristen for this,

Dear All,

The most up-to-date Episheet is posted in one of the earlier posts on this forum.  If you need to increase the number of study entries, you will need to increase the number in cell C4.

Do we have to use Rothman's Episheet. I keep getting an error when I try to increase the number of studies in C4. Can we use Stata instead?

I am also having trouble with the spreadsheet. I keep getting a "Not Enough Memory" error and when I change the model from fixed to random effects, nothing changes. I am also having a similar problem when I try to increase the number of studies.

I was also a bit confused about #2. My final search gave me 326 articles published since the second week of April of 2010. This seemed like too many to evaluate for potential inclusion in the meta-analysis. Did other people get fewer studies in the final search?

Did anyone have any luck fixing any of these issues?

Thanks, Sarah

Leslie, are you using a mac too? I'm wondering if that's part of the issue.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear some of you are having difficulties with the spreadsheet. It very well may be a Mac vs PC issue. If you have access to a PC, you could try that. If you know how to do the analyses in Stata, by all means do that.

Thanks, Cecily

I recommend saving the file to your Google Docs folder and opening using Goggle Docs Spreadsheets.  I asked someone to try this and it worked.  Google Docs removes any editing protection from the Episheet file, so that you would be able to add rows by a simple Insert Rows command.

I hope this helps!
