Hi DCR – Week 6 is a change of pace. While perhaps not as conceptually exciting to talk about as confounding and interaction, designing ways to collect useful data from your participants is really a core skill for clinical research. It’s hard! There really is no way to design good questions without testing them out and seeing how they go wrong. You’ll get a chance to do some testing with each other during section on Tuesday. Bring a real work-in-progress questionnaire if you can!
This week’s lecture is Michael Kohn’s in-class recording from last year. If you don’t know the full story of the “butterfly ballot,” you’ll be in for a treat (and a shock at the historical significance of an error in design of a data collection form)...
I’ll be at office hours as usual tomorrow, drop by if you’d like to talk.
Mark
