Hi DCR - I recommend finding another student (in your DCR small group or otherwise) and swapping 5-page protocols to give feedback to each other. This sort of peer review will ALWAYS be an important part of your research life. I rely heavily on peer feedback on any important research product, and it always makes my work better. It may be less natural to do this with a fellow student in the context of a Final Project assignment like this than it is with an established research collaborator, but I encourage you to reach out to your fellow students and try! An added bonus - it will stimulate you to produce a relatively polished and presentable draft BEFORE the actual deadline...
