In our small group today, we discussed the definition of mixed methods. There may be similar "best practice" statements for Dissemination & Implementation Science projects, although I have not used them in my own work. It could be worth googling a bit to see if NIH has released any best practice or other such guidelines for the field, if you are submitting a grant in that area.
