Dear Instructors and Learners,

Welcome to fall quarter!

This past summer, after more than a year of remote-only educational offerings, we resumed some in-person learning options in our courses, and this will continue through fall quarter.

Courses in the DEB (Dept. of Epid/Biostat) Education programs have a successful history of multi-modality teaching and learning (i.e., in-person and remote, synchronous and asynchronous) even before the pandemic. The incorporation of hybrid modalities has always been a strength of our programs, allowing us to be flexible and extend reach and access to graduate and professional learners around the globe for several of our classes. Over the past 18 months, we have all experienced new modes of teaching and learning, which informs how we transition back into the classroom.

Our educational program directors and staff have worked hard to take into consideration current campus and public health guidelines as well as instructors' and students' contexts, to plan the format and schedule for fall, for each program. In general, our approach is to be flexible and supportive, while also acknowledging the benefits of in-person interactions for certain activities. Please see the attached informational sheet for details, which will also be posted on the DEB website.

 Wishing you a wonderful quarter!
