I also found the use of measures that combine indicators of inequality very interesting. Since I was not very familiar with the indicators used in the US, I found it very useful to understand the advantages of using segregation metrics such as the Index of Concentration at the Extremes (ICE), poverty, income, race/ethnicity, and with measures computed at the census tract compared to the city/town level. I found ICE to be a metric easier to understand since it measures the absolute concentration of privilege and deprivation, in contrast to measures of relative segregations which are comparisons of probabilities. I think it would be interesting to explore the use of these measurements and access to health care, especially screening programs such as colorectal cancer screening (my research topic).
