Hello, I am having trouble following question 2d.

a)       In (a) and (b), you saw that there were baseline differences between the two groups.  What two number should the authors have compared?  (Hint: they likely did the correct comparison and reported its p-value as < 0.001.). Explain your answer. [4 points].

What two numbers should they have compared... to determine intergroup differences at 12 mo follow up?

The hint may have actually confused me more, stating that they did likely do the correct comparison.

Appreciate any clarification!

Ignoring losses to follow-up (which you may do), each woman in the study had baseline ferritin level and a 12-month ferritin level, so each woman had a change in ferritin level from baseline to 12 months. 56 women were treated with COC and 56 were treated with LNG-IUS. What 2 numbers should the authors have compared? The hint is meant to indicate that the correct comparison would yield a p-value of < 0.001.
