With permission from Dr. Dohan, I am planning to use a selection of comments from a recent New York Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/01/magazine/the-fire-on-the-57-bus-in-oakland.html?_r=0) that raises some provocative questions about race, class, gender, adolescence, hate crimes, and the criminal justice system as my project data. In case anyone is curious, I'll attach the comments I extracted here.
Thanks Bliss. Several students are using data from public sources -- social media, etc. As I mentioned in class, these are really interesting sources of qualitative data and likely to be of growing interest.
