My current research looks at abortion referral. I have two datasets, one from the patient perspective and one from the provider perspective. I will send both sets to Dan, so contact him if you are interested. Both datasets are excel files.
Patient dataset:
-361 women seeking abortion in Nebraska surveyed by a research assistant. Open ended questions about how healthcare providers responded to the topic of abortion and about women's experiences surrounding judgment by healthcare providers when seeking abortion. Women's responses transcribed by research assistant, not necessarily verbatim.
Provider dataset:
-500 family medicine and OB/Gyn clinicians (physicians, PA's and NP's) in Nebraska who completed either an online or paper survey about referral for four reproductive health scenarios: in vitro fertilization, fetal anomalies, abortion, and suspected gynecologic cancer. Open ended questions about reasons for chosen method of referral for each scenario and any other comments the clinician may have for each scenario.
Here's a little information to help with context when looking at the data:
CHI/Alegent are Catholic hospital facilities
AAA, EPS, Assure Women's clinic, and the Alpha Center are crisis pregnancy centers (do not provide abortions, often provide misinformation about abortion)
Carhart's clinic in Bellevue (named Abortion and Contraception Clinic of Nebraska) is an abortion clinic where about have of the patient interviews take place.
There are 3 places in Nebraska where an abortion can be obtained: Planned Parenthood in Omaha, Planned Parenthood in Lincoln and Carhart's clinic.
