I'm struggling with Homework 1. Step 3 wants us to use a reclassify node and when i do this and try to preview the error message "a value must be entered for 'new value'" and "execution was interrupted" pops up. Any ideas? Or will there be anytime to go through this Monday after/during class? Thanks!!
It sounds like you haven't entered the new values (on the right side of the reclassify node window) for the newly defined variable. You might look at the SPSS Modeler book you can download for free (see link on main course page). Section 3.2.6 of that covers how to use the reclassify node with lots of screenshots. Perhaps too many!
I am not sure I have enough basic knowledge on how to troubleshoot errors when reading in data in SPSS. I only have 10 records when I read in the NEISS data set and don't know where to start with determining what I need to do to fix this.

I haven't been able to reproduce this error, but I believe the preview field only shows 10 records instead of the entire database. Have you tried moving past that to the audit step and seeing if it loads the full records? Or is it only 10 throughout the stream?
I will also be talking more about data formats and layouts today in lecture so that may help.
