The next session of Publishing & Presenting Clinical Research on May 23 will be a two-part session designed to prepare you to present individual research projects as well as discuss your overall scientific mission at professional conferences.
This is a good session to attend in person, as the second half of class will involve an interactive session led by Urmimala Sarkar, Associate Professor of Medicine, focused on helping you develop a focused but flexible "elevator speech" to introduce yourself as a clinical scientist.
The goal is to prepare you to describe your scientific interests and background to potential mentors, collaborators, and employers, in order to create a memorable and positive impression as well as open the door to future rewarding conversations.
To get the most out of this session, Dr. Sarkar recommends that you use the "Elevator Speech template" posted on the course syllabus website to prepare a few bullet points in advance of the class.
Also, don't forget that assignment #3 is due by 5 pm the day before class. According to instructions, please create both a table and a figure presenting the same research data in two ways, along with accompanying text that introduces or summarizes the findings.
Best wishes,
Alison Huang
