Dear enrollees in Epi 212 (Publishing & Presenting Clinical Research):
Hope you're all staying in good spirits as we enter into another month of shelter-in-place!
Just want to remind you of the second course assignment, which focuses on the introduction or background section of research manuscripts. This is due by this Tuesday, May 5, before noon.
Instructions for both option 1 and 2 for this assignment are posted on the on-line syllabus at the end of module 2-- please upload your document using the link provided. Keep in mind that the assignment upload link will close automatically to new submissions shortly after noon on Tuesday.
The next module of our course focuses on presentation of research data in tables and figures as well as narrative summary and interpretation of research findings in the results and discussion sections of research manuscripts.
We won't hold a live Zoom session next week, but you can find two pre-recorded sessions posted on the course syllabus. One of these is a recording of a live session led by Vivek Jain from the 2019 version of this course. I hope you understand that due to Dr. Jain's responsibilities overseeing COVID infection control efforts at ZSFG this month, he isn't able to give this session live this year.
But stay tuned for more information about the special live Zoom session we will hold on May 19 for the fourth module of this course. This will be an interactive panel discussion featuring at least five UCSF professors who are also editors-in-chief or senior editors of peer-reviewed clinical research journals, who will share their unique insights and take your questions about the manuscript submission and review process. We'll share more details about that session next week.
Best wishes,
Alison Huang, Epi 212 course director
