We have some announcements about the first assignment after receiving questions and feedback from students:
1) Dr. Malekinejad has kindly revised one of his protocols to serve as an example for Assignment 1. Please find it attached here and under the Assignments folder.
2) The page limit is now 5-6 pages to accommodate for the cover page. The references will not count towards this page limit.
3) Some students asked if they need to repeat information in different sections according to PICO. You do not need to duplicate this information. The inclusion/exclusion section should be used as your main heading, and you can write a few "introductory" words to describe/sest-up your general approach to your inclusion/exclusion criteria. You can then break down eh PICO by sub-heading, which is where you would state your inclusion/exclusion criteria. For instance, for population, it would be something like the following: "(P) We will include all adult (>18 years) HIV infected people who have never received HIV-treatment (treatment naive) living in the United States. We will exclude studies conducted population that have certain chronic conditions, such as diabetes." Please refer to his example for clarification.
4) Please do not regroup/retitle sections. Since we assigned grades by each heading/sub-heading, we ask that you do not change them. This will help us with grading.
5) While your searches may not be as comprehensive or detailed, you will need to run searches and report number of hits for your preliminary search strategy.
