Electronic Health Record Data

DCR Scholars - I got some requests for more instruction and resources to help people learn how to use electronic health record data in their research projects.

One of the resources that UCSF provides is access to de-identified tables of data from our UCSF electronic health records that can be accessed and analyzed by anyone with credentials at UCSF.

Jennifer Creasman from CTSI (head of our Data Management Unit) has offered to do a WebEx presentation on accessing and using these data.  If you're interested, please sign up with your availability on this Doodle Poll:

Sign up ASAP, and we'll announced the date and time this Friday.

Hi DCR Scholars - Please hold Tuesday (Sept 6th) 1:00-2:00pm for a Web Conference about using Electronic Medical Record data at UCSF.  This is a big topic, and a short time slot, but it will introduce you to at least one way of accessing these data.

We will send call details soon.

The meeting will be most useful if you actually sign up to access the files!  Here's how:

Go to https://myresearch.ucsf.edu/research-data-browser

  1. Scroll to Accessing the RDB, click on the “Research Data Tools Request Form”
  2. Under request details select Research Data Browser
  3. You may have to find an "approver"...(you might get stuck here)
  4. Once approved, map directly to the RDB flat file folder
